Programme General Overview
Erasmus + is the new seven year EU programme for Education, Training, Youth and Sport. It combines seven programmes from the 2007-2013 period, namely Long Life Learning Programme (LLP), the Youth In Action Programme and five international cooperation programmes.
The programme will have a budget of €14.7 billion (with a 40% increase compared to current spending levels) and will give 4 million Europeans the chance to take part in a mobility experience. It will also support transnational partnerships among Education, Training, and Youth institutions and organisations to foster cooperation and bridge the worlds of Education and work in order to tackle the skills gaps we are facing in Europe.
It is divided in 3 Key Actions (KA1, KA2, KA3) plus 2 Specific Actions (Jean Monnet and Sport):
KA1 – Learning Mobility of Individuals
Key Action 1 is the largest action in Erasmus+ with 63% of programme budget supporting its focus on increasing mobility and skills, covering the five fields of Higher Education, vocational education and training, schools, adult education and youth. . Under KA1 organisations can apply for funding to run mobility projects which enable organisations to offer structured study, work experience, job shadowing, training and teaching opportunities to staff and learners.
